Marvel Releases ‘Thor’ Mockumentary From Comic Con

Out of all the exciting news, tidbits, and sneak peeks Marvel provided at Comic Con, one of the most intriguing involved ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. Along with rough footage, they also played a short mockumentary starring Chris Hemsworth himself, explaining where Thor was during the events of ‘Captain America: Civil War’. And now, in time for ‘Civil War”s home media release, Marvel has released the mockumentary online, which will be included in the film’s special features.

I don’t know about you guys, but this clip just convinced me to change sides to “Team Thor”. The low-key sense of humor, the subtle ways it pokes fun at something we hold highly – this is very reminiscent of ‘What We Do In The Shadows’, one of Taika Watiti’s previous films. Seeing the normally-stoic God of Thunder presented in such a down-to-earth, goofy way is a huge delight. And while I doubt this tone is exactly what we’re getting in ‘Ragnarok‘, it clearly shows that Watiti has a great imagination and a sharp sense of humor. And I look forward to seeing him put those in action when the movie comes out.

Thor: Ragnarok‘ is directed by Taika Watiti and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, and Jeff Goldblum. It will hit theaters on November 3rd, 2017. Hopefully we get a Darryl cameo.
