Marvel Studios has tapped Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer to write the upcoming Fantastic Four movie from director Matt Shakman.
Deadline reports that Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, an up-and-coming writing duo behind a number of recently-sold spec scripts, have been hired to write the highly-anticipated Fantastic Four movie from Marvel Studios. According to the trade, Kaplan and Springer have been attached to Fantastic Four for quite some time now, as the duo boarded the project before director Matt Shakman.
Earlier this month, during Disney’s D23 Expo, Marvel’s Kevin Feige officially confirmed that Matt Shakman would be directing the next Fantastic Four movie, following his critically-acclaimed work on the Disney Plus series WandaVision. With Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer now on board as the film’s writers, Feige and Shakman will kick off the long-awaited casting process for the titular team.
Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured the first appearance of a Fantastic Four hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with John Krasinski playing the Earth-838 variant of Reed Richards. It’s currently unknown if Krasinski will reprise his role as Richards for the reboot.
What can fans expect from the next Fantastic Four movie?
During a recent interview, Kevin Feige teased how the next Fantastic Four movie will stand apart from its predecessors. “A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before? We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen,” Feige told The Hollywood Reporter.
Fantastic Four is currently slated to hit theaters on November 8, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
