‘Marvel’s Runaways’ Season 2 Adds Jan Luis Castellanos As Topher

Marvel's Runaways Topher Jan Luis Castellanos

Marvel’s Runaways had their presentation for their upcoming second season on Hulu at New York Comic Con at the Madison Square Garden earlier today. The panel confirmed that the character known as Topher will be making his debut in the series and will be played by actor Jan Luis Castellanos.

The official Marvel website describes Topher as “a crafty runaway who schools our kids on new levels of street game. The consummate survivor, Topher knows how to read the room and win friends.” Castellanos as Topher was revealed during a trailer presented at the panel, where he is shown meeting the titular Runaways in a hostel.

Here’s what Castellanos had to say about playing Topher in season 2 of Runaways:

“I’m super grateful to be joining the Marvel/Hulu/Runaways family. It has been a dream come true. Topher is a tough and complicated kid, and it was very exciting to bring him to life. I can’t wait for you all to meet him!”

What do you make of this casting? Are you excited to see what Castellanos brings to the table as Topher? How will this affect the dynamic among the Runaways? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news about Marvel television.

The Runaways have left their homes (and evil parents) behind and now have to learn to live on their own. As they scavenge for food, search for shelter, and take care of one another, our kids begin to realize that, for better or worse, they’re stuck with each other. And it’s up to them to take down PRIDE once and for all. But someone sent a mysterious message to Jonah… Is there a mole in the Runaways? Meanwhile PRIDE is focused on finding their children, and Jonah has his own dangerous plan in mind.

Marvel’s Runaways is executive produced by series showrunners/writers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C. and Gossip Girl) along with Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s The Defenders). Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski will produce as well. Marvel’s Runaways is a co-production with ABC Signature Studios.

The series season 2 premieres on December 21, 2018, on Hulu.
