‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Set Photos Tease Matt Damon’s Return

Matt Damon could return to the Asgardian stage...

New photos from the Australian set of Thor: Love and Thunder teased the return of Matt Damon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It seems like Matt Damon and Sam Neill will take part in yet another Asgardian recap of the MCU when Thor: Love and Thunder eventually arrives in theaters in 2022. Production is underway in Australia, with recent shots showing Chris Hemsworth alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy, but new photos revealed that a huge stage has been built as part of the set. It looks awfully similar to the one seen in Thor: Ragnarok, where Sam Neill, Matt Damon and Liam Hemsworth made cameos as Asgardian actors in a play about Loki’s supposed death in Thor: The Dark World.

The new photos revealed by the Daily Mail show off the huge Asgardian stage while also noting that Matt Damon has been spotted alongside Chris Hemsworth in and around the area, but not clear how big of a role he’ll have. But since Loki’s had an interesting arc after being killed in Avengers: Infinity War and then escaping off earlier in the timeline during Avengers: Endgame, there’s plenty to recap for the Asgardian audiences… That’s without mentioning the upcoming Loki series on Disney Plus too. Take a look at the Thor: Love and Thunder set in the photos below.

What do you make of the Thor: Love and Thunder set photos? Do you think the film will use Matt Damon and Sam Neill as the Asgardian actors to recap the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame? Sound-off in the comments below!

Full details on the plot for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder are currently being kept under lock and key, though the film will be partly based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, in which Jane Foster becomes the new Thor. Directed by Taika Waititi from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released on May 6, 2022. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news on Matt Damon in Chris Hemsworth’s upcoming sequel along with the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
