During an interview with Hey U Guys, Kingsman: The Golden Circle director Matthew Vaughn confirmed that he is in talks to direct the sequel to Man of Steel.
Before Man of Steel went into production, Matthew Vaughn had pitched a Superman film to Warner Bros. that was ultimately passed on in favor of Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer’s take on the DC Comics hero. Since then, a Man of Steel sequel has gone into active development with Vaughn reportedly in “preliminary conversations” to helm the project. Now, Vaughn himself has confirmed that he is in talks to direct the next Superman solo film:
“I am planning another Kingman, I’ve written the treatment and some of the scenes…I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I have had chats about Superman, I love Superman.”
Vaughn has been a popular choice to helm the Man of Steel sequel among fans, having previously restored enthusiasm for the then-faltering X-Men film franchise with X-Men: First Class. Would you like to see Matthew Vaughn direct the Man of Steel sequel? Share your thoughts below!
Until then, fans may see Superman return when Justice League arrives in theaters this fall.
