Michael B. Jordan Joins The Cast Of Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’

MBJ Black PantherThe Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Michael B. Jordan will be joining Creed co-stars Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor will be re-teaming once again with director Ryan Coogler and has signed on to join the cast of Marvel Studios upcoming Black Panther film. Currently no details are known regarding his role but one source is stating that the actor could be playing a villain in the upcoming Marvel Studios release.

If this is true and I had to take a guess regarding what villainous role he could have signed on for, I’d lean towards him possibly playing Erik Killmonger. The character is the Black Panther’s earliest nemesis from the comics and described as “a powerful warrior and strategic genius in politics and economics, who will stop at nothing to have the Kingdom of Wakanda for his own.”

Jordan will be joining star Chadwick Boseman in the film which is currently is set to hit theaters on February 2, 2018. Lupita Nyong’o is currently in negotiation to join the cast as well with Andy Serkis & Martin Freeman also rumored to appear. Sound off with your thoughts on this casting news and who  you think Jordan could be playing in the comments section below.

Hollywood goes out of its way to cast African-Americans as heroic super geniuses, so it is interesting that Jordan will be playing a villain. Presumably, the mostly black cast of “Luke Cage” will also feature a black villain. Will social justice warriors blow their tops?

Erik Killmonger seems the most obvious choice. He’s about T’Challa’s age, he’s a native Wakandan, and he went to MIT. Very smart. Very ruthless. Knows Wakanda as well as anyone. Holds a grudge against T’Challa for a perceived slight.

Sounds like the Human Torch to me!

    Spoiler?:

After GiAnt-Man in Civil War Ive been hoping to see Bill Foster join the ranks some day. I thought Michael B. Jordan would make a good fit. Seems like a waste of a good actor unless he can become Black Panther’s Loki.

Crazy theory of the day: Fox have already given creative control of the Fantastic Four over to Marvel…. with one hellish condition: 2015’s Fantastic Four becomes MCU canon! Hence, Human Torch in Black Panther! Haha I hope I’m wrong
