Over the weekend, Channing Tatum finally closed his deal to star as Gambit for FOX. Seems like he isn’t alone. Got a tip over the weekend and the hot rumor is that both Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy have reportedly made deals to continue playing Magneto and Professor Xavier in future X-Men movies.
Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy have previously played Magneto and Professor Xavier in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days Of Future Past. They will both next be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse, which currently has three weeks left of filming.
Previously, Michael Fassbender made comments to MTV about the possibility of his return:
“I’m not sure,” he told MTV News. “I presume [Lawrence and Hoult] are talking about contractually. All of us signed on for a three-film deal, so we’ll just wait and see what happens after this.”
Michael Fassbender seemed like he was game to return post X-Men: Apocalypse
“Always interested in moving forward”
I’m also told the studio also wants Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence back as well but the latter seems unlikely. Lawrence has said Apocalypse would be her last time playing Mystique. In terms of Fassbender and McAvoy’s deal, I don’t know specifics, how many more films, etc., but I’m told it sounds like 20th Century Fox got both actors to stay for more X-Men films.
The possibilities are exciting. Can we see Magneto and Professor Xavier team up with Deadpool down the line? Maybe an X-Force movie? Stay tuned as more develops…
