‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Concept Art Imagines Michael Fassbender As The Lizard

Newly released concept art for The Amazing Spider-Man imagines X-Men star Michael Fassbender as The Lizard.

The Lizard is one of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies, in large part due to the heartbreaking relationship between Peter Parker and Dr. Curt Connors. We never got to see Dylan Baker play The Lizard in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, but we did get the villain in the 2012 reboot, played by Rhys Ifans.

The Lizard’s design in The Amazing Spider-Man got a mixed reception from fans, in large part because many wanted the full snout look from the comic books. It appears the more humanistic look for The Lizard was planned early on in production, with concept artist Jerad S.Marantz sharing art of X-Men star Michael Fassbender as the villain when he was considered for the role:

“Here’s some more fun lizard concept art for amazing Spiderman. Playing around with how many human features I could put into the face. This might’ve been a middle stage in the transformation, not sure. Here I was adding some Michael Fassbender. At one point he was considered for the role.”
