One of the most exciting components of The Flash is that the multiverse will officially be introduced in the DC Extended Universe. Taking a page from the iconic Flashpoint storyline, Ezra Miller’s solo Flash film will see him interacting with multiple timelines and Batmen. Ben Affleck has signed on to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne with OG 80s Batman actor Michael Keaton doing the same. The last time audiences saw Keaton was in 1992’s Batman Returns. After 30 years, Keaton is back in the role and hasn’t lost his affinity for shiny toys.

Details are slim on how Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne will factor into The Flash, but the prevailing theory suggests that he’ll be operating as a mentor of sorts to Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen. A new set photo from The Flash shows Keaton’s Bruce Wayne lounging in an expensive Maybach car. We previously saw Keaton’s grey-haired Bruce Wayne on the steps of a courthouse, where a scene between Barry Allen and Iris West was also shot.

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash will be inspired by the Flashpoint comic storyline, which followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles. It is currently unknown how much inspiration the upcoming Ezra Miller film will take from the comic.

The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 3, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the future of the DC Extended Universe, Michael Keaton, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content!
