Michael Wilkinson Praises Ben Affleck’s Batman

Casting announcements for superhero movies usually tend to cause controversy, particularly when they come from Warners. Most, if not all of their casting decisions thus far have received a lot of unnecessary flak, especially the one about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman from a few years back.

While that bit of casting news didn’t sit so well with fans back when the studio first made the announcement in 2013, many are now declaring his take on the Caped Crusader as the most comic book-accurate version of the character to date, even though we’ve yet to see his big screen debut as Batman, but thankfully that isn’t too far away now.

Michael Wilkinson, who was the one responsible for dressing Affleck and the rest of the heroes in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn for Justice, recently attended the annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, where he spoke with People magazine about the movie and had nothing but good things to say about Affleck:

I think people are going to be blown away by his Bruce Wayne and his Batman, It just feels right, like he was born to be this character. He’s sexy, he’s smart and seductive, he’s strong and a little intimidating and scary, he’s a real brawler, there’s nothing precious about his Bruce Wayne. He rolls up his sleeves and gets it done.

The costume designer also revealed Affleck’s reaction to seeing himself in full costume for the first time, and it sounds like he was more than happy with his final look:

I remember he just kind of looked at himself in the mirror, pretty happy with how he looked. The costume is very intimidating and huge and I think he intimidated himself when he looked in the mirror, so that’s a good sign.

When asked about what fans should expect from the movie when it hits theaters in less than a month, Wilkinson replied with the following:

Hold onto your socks because they’re about to be blown off.
