One of the coolest things about Marvel’s Avengers movies is the opportunity to see all of your favorite superheroes team up and bring all the great splash pages from the comics to life on the big screen. We will finally get to see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy next year in Avengers: Infinity War, but the one team that is constantly being left out of all the fun is The Defenders, Marvel Netflix’s answer to the Avengers, made up of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. However, fans are still hopeful that we’ll one day see the two groups come together and two of the stars of Marvel’s The Defenders have an idea of how such a meeting could happen.
During an interview for the latest issue of SFX Magazine, Iron Fist star Finn Jones theorized about the best possible way of bringing the two superhero teams together:
“We’re part of the same universe. If there ever was a mash-up between the Avengers and the Defenders, I think it’d be really nice to see the Avengers come to the Netflix world. It’d be way more interesting to see those characters fleshed out the same way as our characters are, rather than just see our characters do some big f—ing fight scene! There’s nothing cool about that.”
Then Luke Cage himself, Mike Colter, chimed in:
“It would be easier to have them come into our world because it would probably be more believable. There’s not some huge universal thing going on, some intergalactic thing invading the planet or something like that. Stark’s up in the tower…”
Mike Colter and Finn Jones continued to fantasize about what a clashing of two worlds a meetup like that would be, with Jones adding:
“Get ’em to Harlem. How good would that be, seeing Tony Stark in Harlem? That’s f—ing brilliant! Although it would be cool to see Luke Cage in a different universe, fighting off some dark overlord. That’d be cool. Luke Cage and Iron Fist in space!”
Marvel’s The Defenders stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Rosario Dawson, Scott Glenn, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Rachel Taylor, Simone Missick, Jessica Henwick, Elodie Yung and Sigourney Weaver.
“Marvel’s The Defenders” follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
Marvel’s The Defenders debuts on Netflix on August 18, 2017. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Mike Colter, Finn Jones and the rest of the Defenders cast!
