‘Ms. Marvel’ Fixes A ‘WandaVision’ Plot Hole Involving ‘Avengers: Endgame’

The series answers a big Avengers question.

Ms. Marvel WandaVision Avengers Endgame Marvel MCU

The first episode of Ms. Marvel has arrived on Disney Plus and Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan may have resolved a WandaVision plot hole concerning the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Ms. Marvel introduces Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan to the MCU. Immediately, the first episode makes it apparent that Kamala is a huge Avengers fan – Captain Marvel is, of course, her hero, but the young superhero-to-be is well-versed in the affairs of all of Earth’s mightiest heroes. Through Kamala’s Avengers obsession, viewers get some insight into just how much the ordinary citizens of the MCU know about what went down between the Avengers and Thanos, as well as some answers on where that information is coming from.

This revelation helps resolve how two characters in WandaVision were familiar with the details of the Avengers’ greatest battle.

A Small Avenger With A Big Mouth

Ms. Marvel‘s first episode, “Generation Why,” opens with one of Kamala Khan’s animated YouTube videos, published under the name “Sloth Baby Productions.” The video offers a recap of the Avengers’ final battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, focusing on Captain Marvel’s dramatic entrance as the tide of the battle was turning on the heroes.

Kamala reveals she pieced together a lot of the details through her “dilligent studying of Scott Lang’s podcast interviews.” On top of her voiceover, the montage of Captain Marvel clips then cuts to a cover image for a podcast titled “This Powered Life,” promoting “Big Me Little Me: A Scott Lang Interview.”

Scott Lang, better known as the Avenger Ant-Man (played by Paul Rudd), seems like exactly the sort of goofball hero who would go onto a podcast to share all the juicy details from his latest excursion with the Avengers. This also explains a previous MCU exchange between Monica Rambeau and Jimmy Woo.

In WandaVision, Teyonah Parris’ SWORD agent and Randall Park’s FBI agent were seen discussing Wanda Maximoff’s power, as they debate whether she could be responsible for the magical imprisonment of the town of Westview. Monica points out Wanda “could have taken out Thanos on her own if he hadn’t initiated a blitz. I mean nobody else came close.”

This line referred to the Avengers: Endgame moment in which Wanda was telekinetically overpowering Thanos, until he ordered his forces to “rain fire.” However, in a battle as vast and sprawling as the one seen in Endgame, where only the Avengers (and their allies) and Thanos’ forces were present, it wasn’t clear how this information had reached Monica and Jimmy. It could have been assumed that some of the Avengers would have been debriefed by SWORD or the FBI, making these details available to such agencies exclusively. The real answer though, seems to be that everyone knows – all because Scott couldn’t help but spill the beans.
