Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer thinks the pandemic delay could be beneficial to the writers of the hit Netflix show.
Like many other film and TV projects, Netflix’s Stranger Things was hit with delays because of the ongoing pandemic, but Natalia Dyer (who plays Nancy Wheeler) thinks it has helped the writers behind the series write better scripts. Production on the series was originally underway earlier this year before Netflix made the call to halt work on Stranger Things season four. But hopefully once the cast return to work, Natalia Dyer thinks they’ll be given much tighter scripts.
The star was speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her latest film, Yes, God, Yes, when the topic of the Netflix series came up, she explained a little about the process in which the cast their scripts. Natalia Dyer revealed that the writers craft the scripts as they’re going – but thanks to the pandemic they’ll have had time to sit and make them as compelling as they can be. Hopefully that’ll be evident whenever the fourth season of Stranger Things eventually lands on the streaming service.
“Normally, we get the first few scripts, and then they have to keep writing due to the schedule of it. And it takes a while to craft a script. So, normally, there’s a kind of ‘writing as we’re going,’ but it seems they’ve had enough time. I think it’s maybe been a blessing for the writers, in some way, because they had the time to just sit down, think, and create. So, yeah, it appears to be that they’ve got it all down.”

Romance blossoms and complicates the group’s dynamic, and they’ll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town’s threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they’ll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.”
