Nathan Fillion discussed why he decided to join the live-action DC world with James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Warner Bros. and DC’s The Suicide Squad will feature an ensemble cast that includes Firefly alumn Nathan Fillion in an undisclosed role. Having voiced Green Lantern in animated DC films, this won’t be Nathan Fillion’s first foray into the company’s universe, but it will be his first time portraying a character from the publisher’s lore in a live-action feature.

During an interview with ET Canada, Nathan Fillion revealed that he ultimately decided to the DC live-action film franchise because of the director, James Gunn. As Nathan Fillion explained, James Gunn is one of the people he will say yes to when the filmmaker calls because of his amazing ability to tell a story:

“James Gunn (is) one of the people in my life that when he calls I just pick up the phone and say ‘yes to whatever you’re about to say, it’s yes, the answer is yes. James Gunn is an amazing storyteller, that guy understands story and he loves to tell story. So when he wants to do something you know it’s gonna be fun, you know it’s gonna be satisfying… So here he is with Suicide Squad 2, he asks me to come down. What can I say about it? It’s so secret, I get stressed when people talk about it. Here’s what I can tell you though, huge scope. I’ve never done anything so big.”
