Watch The Teaser Trailer For Netflix’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’

Netflix has released the first official teaser trailer for their take on Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, which reveals that the show will be available to stream on the service starting January 13, 2017.

The teaser introduces Lemony Snicket himself, who will be played by Patrick Warburton. He’ll be joined by Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf, as well as Malina Weissman (Supergirl) as Violet Baudelaire and Louis Hynes (Barbarians Rising) as Klaus Baudelaire. The Netflix production will consist of eight episodes.

A Series of Unfortunate Events recounts the tale of the orphaned children Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire at the hands of the villainous Count Olaf, as they face trials and tribulations, misfortunes, and an evil uncle in search of their fortune, all in their quest to uncover the secret of their parents’ death. The books have sold more than 65 million copies and have been translated into 43 languages. The epic series will be executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld, who will also direct a number of episodes, and Daniel Handler, legal, literary and social representative for Lemony Snicket.

Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events stars Neil Patrick Harris, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes, K. Todd Freeman, Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack and Aasif Mandvi.
