Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott’s sequel to Prometheus, has just had its next trailer classified. The red-band trailer is two and a half minutes in length and should arrive sometime this week.
TrailerTrack reports that the trailer is on track for a release very soon:
It appears 20th Century Fox are about to unleash a full-length red band trailer for Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant this week – Deluxe Digital Cinema have sent what indeed appears to be the new trailer to North American cinemas for screenings of Logan starting Thursday evening.
The timing for this trailer’s release probably shouldn’t come as a huge surprise – it’s been about two months since the first one dropped, and the movie arrives late in May. Twentieth Century Fox’s next major release is the final Wolverine movie, Logan, which would be the ideal movie to attach the Alien: Covenant to. Since Logan has established itself as being R-rated, the opportunity to air an uncensored, red-band trailer is presented pretty clearly. Given the trailer’s close proximity to the movie’s release, it seems as though it could be the last one we’ll get, barring an international variant waiting in the wings. Said strategy is similar to what Fox did with promoting the R-rated X-Men spin-offs Deadpool and Logan, so this wouldn’t necessarily be too much of a departure from the standard “three trailers” format that most tent-poles get.
The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
Alien: Covenant bursts out on May 19, 2017. Its cast includes Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, James Franco, and Noomi Rapace.
