New Director of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Could Impact The Secret Warriors

Secret Warriors

Just when you think the Secret Warriors couldn’t face any more complications, it seems that the new Director in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could impact them negatively. According to a couple of EP’s for the show, he’s going to make it rather difficult for them to assemble.

Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen spoke to ComicBook.com at the recent premiere for the fourth season of the show, and they spent time explaining what path the Secret Warriors are heading down, and unsurprisingly, it doesn’t sound like a good one.

When questioned about whether the team would have an increased presence in the upcoming season, Jed explained their potential struggles.

“Well, there’s new management at S.H.I.E.L.D., so getting around those rules will be tricky. But some of those characters are a permanent part of our universe.”

We know Daisy Johnson won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, and Yo-Yo appeared in a recent promotional picture, so we have to assume they’re both safe. Maurissa also gave her two cents regarding the team, revealing that the events of Captain America: Civil War has changed things.

“In light of the Sokovia Accords and S.H.I.E.L.D.being legitimized again, everything is going to be done with a closer eye and much more red tape. So, whether or not our team can come together in the way they did last year… They might have to find a way around that.”

If you’re unsure who the Secret Warriors are, then you should go back and watch Season 3. They came together mid-way through the season; comprising of Daisy, Lincoln Campbell, Yo-Yo, and Joey Guitierrez. Unfortunately, they never gave the team a lot to do and it left much to be desired. Perhaps they will go off the books and deliver the teamwork we craved when seeing them together the first time!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 premieres tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Check out the official synopsis below.

In light of the Sokovia Accords, and with Hydra obliterated, SHIELD has been legitimatized again and no longer needs to operate in the shadows. Since the world presumes that Coulson is dead, the organization needed a new Director to be the face of the organization. Coulson finds himself back in the role as an agent and teamed with Mack, and together they are tasked with tracking down and confirming the presence of Enhanced people, aka Inhumans. Agent May is tasked with training specialist strike teams, and Fitz and Simmons have taken a big step forward in their relationship.
