New ‘Luke Cage’ Footage In SDCC Sizzle Reel

The Luke Cage SDCC panel kicked off with a sizzle reel highlighting Marvel’s Netflix heroes. The sizzle reel revealed plenty of new footage as well as getting fans hyped for The Defenders as this is the first time three out of the four Defenders can be viewed in a teaser together. Iron Fist was notably missing from the teaser, but the Punisher managed to show up at the end. Jon Bernthal also came out to surprise fans at the panel and insist the sizzle reel be played again.

The Luke Cage footage really seems to bring the action and gore as someone’s bone juts out from their arm and an RPG takes down a building. This is a notable difference from Cage’s appearance in Jessica Jones which was fairly light on action.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Luke Cage drops on Netflix on September 30th.
