RUMOR: ‘New Mutants’ Casting Call May Reveal Character Line-Up

New Mutants
Following the disappointing reception for X-Men: Apocalypse and the unexpected success of Deadpool, the direction of the X-Men franchise appears to be focused on spin-offs over the main series of films. One of those spin-offs gearing up for production is The New Mutants, based on the team of teenage superheroes in-training. Now, the hosts of That Hashtag Show have reported on a casting call that lists four characters and may confirm that New Mutants will feature the original team line-up.

The character breakdown reads as follows:

[CHRIS] Male, 17 years old, Actor must be an adult (18 or over) or a legally emancipated minor; Tall, corn-fed Kentucky kid.

[ANNA] Female, 17 years old, Actor must be an adult (18 or over) or a legally emancipated minor; Russian, sexy, with an obvious mean streak.

[ROB] Male, 16 years old, Actor must be an adult (18 or over) or a legally emancipated minor; Brazilian, cool, confident and extremely handsome.

[JESSICA] Female, 16 years old, Actor must be an adult (18 or over) or a legally emancipated minor; British, punk rock shorn red hair, waif-like.

Based on the character descriptions provided in the casting call, That Hashtag Show concludes that New Mutants will feature Canonball, Magick, Sunspot and Wolfsbane.

To date there has been no official word from 20th Century regarding the casting breakdown, though it certainly corroborates earlier reports about the inclusion of Magick and Wolfsbane.

Director Josh Boone has indicated that the villain Demon Bear will appear in the film and X-Men: Apocalypse star James McAvoy, who portrays the young Charles Xavier, is seemingly confirmed to reprise his role in New Mutants.

How do you feel about this potential line-up? Are there characters you have liked to see included as well? Share your thoughts below!

No release date has been announced but production on The New Mutants will begin in May 2017.

The rumors of Maisie Williams being Wolfsbane would be spot on with “Jessica’s” description.

      She’d be a good Wolfsbane.

If they are doing the Demon Bear then they have to have Dani…I think it would be great to see a Native American superhero onscreen for more than 5 minutes (ie: Warpath)
