A new poster for Henry Cavill’s Netflix show, The Witcher, puts the spotlight on Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer.

Back in late 2019, The Witcher debuted on Netflix to mixed reviews from critics but was otherwise well-received by fans and audiences. A second season was quickly greenlit and after several delays due to Covid-19, is set to make its debut this December. After all of this time, Netflix has finally decided to put a bit of the spotlight on Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer.

Like in The Witcher novels and short stories, Yennefer is Garelt’s on-again/off-again lover. The two met during a bizarre encounter that involved a Djinn. Geralt made a wish in order to release the creature and keep it from killing Yennefer but bounded the two together.

At the end of the first season of The Witcher, Anya Chalotra’s character helped her fellow mages in their battle against the Nilfgaardian Empire during the Battle of Sodden. The season ended with Yennefer unleashing her powers upon the army and successfully driving it off. It was left ambiguous as to whether or not she survived the battle. The first trailer for the second season, however, made it clear that she was, in fact, alive. The latest poster for the upcoming Netflix show puts the spotlight on the character showing her alone in a dark forest:

Based on the fantasy series of novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski, Netflix’s The Witcher follows a monster slayer for hire named Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill. Here’s the official synopsis for the second season of the series:

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

Henry Cavill’s The Witcher returns for its second season on December 17th. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming Netflix show and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
