If you’re hoping to see Chris McKay’s Nightwing film make its way to the big screen soon, this news might leave you a bit disappointed. Yesterday, we learned that McKay has entered into negotiations to direct Paramount’s upcoming Dungeons & Dragons film, something that left many wondering about the status of Nightwing.
From the sound of things, the Batman spin-off has been placed on the backburner like a number of other DC films. In his report about McKay entering negotiations for Dungeons & Dragons, The Tracking Board’s Jeff Sneider mentions that the film isn’t seen as a priority for the studio.
With Nightwing less of a priority for Warner Bros., McKay found himself with an open slot, and Paramount made a play for him to direct Dungeons & Dragons — an idea that the director has sparked to, according to sources.
While this isn’t entirely shocking, it does make one wonder a bit about the development process over there. There’s been a good number of films revealed such as Justice League Dark, Green Lantern Corps. and Booster Gold which do not appear to be heading into production anytime soon. Perhaps we will learn more at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con?
