The Handmaid’s Tale star O-T Fagbenle has joined Scarlett Johannson in Marvel’s Black Widow.

The cast of Marvel’s Black Widow continues to grow, as Deadline reports that O-T Fagbenle has joined the cast of the movie in a leading role. Character details are being kept under wraps.

O-T Fagbenle is perhaps best known for his role as Luke Bankole in Hulu’s Emmy-winning series The Handmaid’s Tale. Fans may also recognize him from his work in the HBO series Looking and the British drama series The Five.

Lore helmer Cate Shortland is directing Black Widow from a script written by Ned Benson and Jac Schaeffer. Production is expected to begin this June in London with rising actress Florence Pugh also on board alongside Scarlett Johansson and David Harbour. Meanwhile, Rachel Weisz is circling what is being described as a “key role” in the project.

The Black Widow film is expected to take place before the character’s debut in Iron Man 2. The standalone film has the opportunity to explore the widow program, which would reveal the origin of Black Widow and how she became the formidable assassin she is today
