Ewan McGregor hyped up Obi-Wan Kenobi some more while confirming the Star Wars show completed filming.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series is one of the most highly anticipated Star Wars projects Lucasfilm is working on at the moment. Filming started earlier this year in Los Angeles, with the limited series using the StageCraft technology made famous by The Mandalorian.
At the Emmys Sunday night, Ewan McGregor picked up an award for his performance in Halston and notably showed up without his iconic Obi-Wan Kenobi beard. McGregor later confirmed to Deadline after his Emmy win that filming on the Star Wars series has wrapped and teased it will live up to all the hype:
“We finished shooting our series, and it was really, really good fun. I really enjoyed working with [director-executive producer] Deborah Chow, and I think it will not disappoint. The new technology that we employed doing it is cool, and it was a different experience than making the original three films that I did.”
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been described as a special event series for Disney Plus, and details on the upcoming Star Wars series are being hidden away on Tatooine. Still, we do know the series will feature a rematch between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and before their final confrontation in A New Hope.
Directed by Deborah Chow from Joby Harold’s scripts, Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is expected to hit Disney Plus in 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming Star Wars series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
