Olivia Munn will soon be appearing in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse but this wasn’t the first role that Munn was in conversations around in the X-Men universe. Turns out that Munn decided against a role in Deadpool in order to go after a more physically demanding role.
Munn was up for playing the role of Vanessa Carlyle (girlfriend of Wade/Deadpool), played by Morena Baccarin. In the end, she decided that she would prefer something more physically challenging, even if it meant a lot less dialogue.
“I said, ‘Is there a fight scene?’ The fight scene could be her monologue. I thought Psylocke was always one of the most lethal characters, and I said, ‘Yes, as long as you’re not using her to be the eye candy. She has really powerful abilities.’ And they said, ‘Yes, that’s an important part.'”
X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
