We almost had a much different Batman for Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy as Lord of The Rings star Orlando Bloom met with the director for Batman Begins.
In a recent interview with MTV News, Orlando Bloom talked about a meeting he once had with Christopher Nolan regarding Batman Begins. The actor was, at one point, a contender for the role of Batman. However, according to Orlando Bloom, it was more of a conversation than any kind of audition or official talk.
During the interview, Orlando Bloom broke down what happened during his meeting with Christopher Nolan. Apparently, at that point in his life, the actor had a few too many major franchises on his plate to even consider doing something like Batman Begins:
“I did meet with Christopher Nolan. But I didn’t audition and it was more of a conversation of –I was in the middle of all this other stuff and I was like I cant. I love Christopher Nolan so much I would like run, not walk to work with him. But in that time in my life it was like Lord of the Rings… Pirates was just happening. I was just like, I need to be off the grid for a while because I don’t know which way is up.”
When asked about Christian Bale’s turn as Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, Orlando Bloom had nothing but positive things to say about hisportrayal of the Caped Crusader:
“No, I think Christian Bale was phenomenal. But it’s funny now I think about it and I’m like “Yeah. It was an interesting window.””
