An Academy Award-winner has joined Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight as Khonsu.
Moon Knight continues to be even more impressive. Everything we’ve seen from the Marvel series has been quite spectacular. From the trippy visuals to the supernatural atmosphere, the show is separating itself from Marvel’s more family-friendly fare.
The biggest draw to the mystical superhero show is the cast assembled by Marvel boss Kevin Feige, which includes Oscar Isaac in the titular role, and Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow, a cult leader who seems to be in communication with a God. Now, Marvel has revealed that F. Murray Abraham will be joining the series as the voice of the Egyptian Moon god Khonsu.
You might recognize F. Murray Abraham from his Academy Award-winning performance in Amadeus or from the recent Apple TV+ series Mythic Quest. It’s unclear to what extent Abraham will voice the God Khonsu and if this appearance involves any sort of motion capture. The Moon God Khonsu is the one who revives a betrayed Marc Spector after he is killed. Spector goes on to serve as the living physical manifestation of Khonsu.
Here is the official synopsis for Marvel’s Moon Knight series:
The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.
