‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’: John Boyega Film Moves To March 2018

Pacific Rim: Uprising has been plucked from its February 2018 release date and pushed back by one month to hit theaters March 23, 2018.

The film is now set to open against Robin Hood starring Jamie Foxx, one week before Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi thriller Ready Player One hits theaters.

Plot details for Pacific Rim: Uprising remain under wraps but the sequel stars John Boyega who plays Jake Pentecost, the son of Stacker Pentecost played by Idris Elba in the original film from director Guillermo Del Toro. Elba, nor Del Toro, nor the original film’s star Charlie Hunnam will be returning for the second installment. Instead, Boyega leads the sequel along with Cailee Spaeney and Scott Eastwood. As seen in the recent teaser released during San Diego Comic-Con, the young Pentecost has picked up his father’s sword seems to be at the forefront of a Jaeger uprising against the Kaiju resurgent.

Returning for the sequel from the original 2013 blockbuster is Rinko Kikuchi and Charlie Day. In addition, other newcomers such as Adria Arjona, Jing Tian, Burn Gorman, Levi Meaden, Karan Brar, and Nick E. Tarabay have also been added into the mix.
