With Wonder Woman breaking records this weekend, all eyes are already on making a sequel to the film. Besides wanting it to take place in the 1930s, director Patty Jenkins also knows exactly where she wants the second film to take place.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Jenkins said that she’d like Wonder Woman 2 to take place in the United States.
“The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right. She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.”
Jenkins also commented on the wonderful opportunity of getting to work with her “dream cast” and that she definitely wants “to make Wonder Woman 2.”
“I’m not a big obligation person when it comes to art. You want to do a movie like this because you believe in it. Then I had this revelation in the middle of the night: this is your dream cast, you’ve created a character that you love and you can say anything you want in the world right now. Then I realized that Wonder Woman 2 is its own great movie. I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. It’s a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love.”
With its box office success, it’d be to the surprise of no one when a sequel is officially announced. Warner Bros. will for sure want to continue with Patty Jenkins and she seems ready to take on the task.
Wonder Woman is currently playing in theaters.
