Paul Rudd and Kathryn Newton are featured in the latest image from Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Total Film has offered fans a new look at next year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The magazine has dropped a never-before-seen image from the upcoming Marvel Studios feature, featuring Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang alongside his daughter Cassie, played by Kathryn Newton.
Kathryn Newton is the third actress to take on the role of Cassie Lang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Abby Ryder Fortson played a young version of Cassie in the first two Ant-Man movies before being replaced by Emma Fuhrmann as a result of the five-year time jump of Avengers: Endgame. Fuhrmann was then recast with Newton for Quantumania.
Producer Stephen Broussard told Total Film that the goal of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was to “be big and feel central to the future of the MCU,” with the introduction of Kang (Jonathan Majors) setting up a massive storyline. “He is very powerful, very formidable, very strong, and will have, obviously, an ongoing presence, à la Thanos in the stories, going forward in ways that are different from Thanos and feel very fresh to us,” teased Broussard.
The Ant-Man series evolves
Fittingly enough, Paul Rudd’s standalone Ant-Man movies have been small in scale compared to other solo films in the MCU. However, given Scott Lang’s integral role in Avengers: Endgame, he has since become a vital part of the superhero team, and his contributions involving science thanks to his collaboration with Hope Van Dyne and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) have certainly been integral. Now that Kang the Conqueror is involved, it’s safe to say that this will be Lang’s biggest threat yet.
Directed by Peyton Reed from a script written by Jeff Loveness, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania also features Michelle Pfeiffer and Bill Murray. The film is currently slated to hit theaters on on February 17, 2023.
