Set against the backdrop of the Outer Rim in the aftermath of the destruction of the Empire and the emergence of the New Republic, The Mandalorian follows a nameless bounty hunter from Mandalore (Pedro Pascal) as he attempts a major job. Along the way, he crosses paths with former Rebel shock-trooper Cara Dune (Gina Carano), and while the two initially appear to be at odds with one another, circumstances force them to form an uneasy alliance.

Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano’s The Mandalorian will be the first of several Star Wars shows to be developed for Disney Plus, including the final season of The Clone Wars, a Rogue One prequel starring Cassian Andor, and a Revenge of the Sith sequel series starring Obi-Wan Kenobi. A second season of The Mandalorian is already in development, with Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano both presumably expected to return.
The Mandalorian is set after Return of the Jedi and will explore the Star Wars timeline between the original and sequel trilogies for the first time in live-action. Here’s the official synopsis:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian will debut exclusively on Disney+, which is set to launch November 12 in the United States and some other regions. The series will be released on a weekly basis, with the first episode of the show being available with the arrival of the streaming service.
