Peter Dinklage’s & Jeff Goldblum’s Scenes Were Cut From ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’

Not every character makes it to the big screen.

Thor Love And Thunder Peter Dinklage Jeff Goldblum

Christian Bale has revealed that scenes involving Peter Dinklage and Jeff Goldblum were cut from the theatrical release of Thor: Love And Thunder.

Back in 2017, audiences were introduced to Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok. In the film, he was the ruler of the planet Sakaar before being overthrown at the movie’s end. A year later we were introduced to Peter Dinklage’s Eitri in Avengers: Infinity War who was revealed to have been the one to make the Infinity Gauntlet Thanos used in the film. He would ultimately help Thor create Stormbreaker.

Since these two appearances, neither Jeff Goldblum nor Peter Dinklage has been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to star Christain Bale, however, they were both set to appear in the film and the actor even had the chance to work with them. Sadly their appearances were left on the cutting room floor:

“I got to work with Peter Dinklage, that’s not in the final film, but he’s fantastic. I got to work with Jeff Goldblum, he’s not in the final film either. As you see, a lot of stuff ends up on the cutting room floor even though it is beautiful brilliant stuff.”

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
