New images have just been released that show the filming of Taron Egerton’s Robin Hood: Origins is now taking place.
Otto Bathurst’s retelling of the Robin Hood legend will take audiences back to before the man became the myth, with Taron Egerton taking on the role as a young, disillusioned man rather than the confident hero with whom we’ve become familiar. The film will allegedly be full of Robin Hood’s growing pains, while delving headfirst into action and adventure as well. Egerton will be joined by a stellar cast: Rogue One star Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Jamie Dornan as Will Scarlet, Jamie Foxx as Little John, Tim Minchin as Friar Tuck and Eve Hewson as Maid Marian.
The set photos were taken by The Dubrovnik Times, since part of production is taking place in Croatia, and they feature Egerton’s Robin Hood and Hewson’s Maid Marian participating in some kind of celebration. Egerton as well as many of the surrounding actors are geared up in the tunics bearing St George’s Cross, the emblem of the Latin Church during the Crusades, which is where this Robin Hood’s actual origins begin. This scene may be Robin Hood’s initial return from the overseas expedition, although he seems in too good a mood to start stealing from the wealthy anytime soon – it might just as easily be his optimistic departure for the wars.
You can take a look at the photos at The Dubrovnik Times.
Robin Hood: Origins is set to be released on the 23rd of March 2018.
