‘Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution’ Trailer Teases Return Of Tragic Character

Pokemon Mewtwo Evolution

It seems that Japan will not be left behind on Pokemon as a new trailer for the film Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution was just released, teasing the return of the original most powerful creature in the world.

The trailer in question doesn’t give us a whole lot to work with. It talks about the debut of the original film, Pokemon: The First Movie, back in 1998. It then teases the return of Mewtwo. At first, it shows us a shot of what appears to be the character in a tank full of water. It then shows us the character flying through the sky. He initially appears to be flying alone but then it is revealed that the character is, in fact, chasing Mew.

The full trailer and the Tweet that was attached to it can be seen below.

The trailer doesn’t tell us a lot but it is known that the film is a direct remake of the franchise’s first theatrical film, Pokemon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back. The plot of the original film revolved around Mewtwo as it found the most trainers throughout the world, kidnapping their Pokemon before cloning them and trying to destroy the world. How closely this new film will follow its predecessor is currently unknown.

What do you all make of this news? Are you eager to revisit your childhood with a remake of Pokemon: The First Movie? Would you be more interested in seeing a continuation of Mewtwo’s story? How will it compare with Detective Pikachu? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here is the synopsis for the original film:

Ash, Misty, Brock and Pikachu face Mewtwo, a bioengineered Pokémon, and the super-Pokémon it has created. With short “Pikachu’s Vacation.”

Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is set to be released on July 12th of 2019 in Japan.
