‘Power Rangers’: First Look At Goldar Revealed

A new video about the highly-anticipated Power Rangers movie offers fans a first look at one of Rita Repulsa's main allies, Goldar.

Power Rangers Movie

Lionsgate’s Power Rangers reboot has been taking quite a few liberties with the original television series. We’ve already seen the weird new designs for the Ranger suits and Zords, plus Bill Hader’s even weirder Alpha 5, but we now have our very first look at one of Rita Repulsa’s main allies, Goldar.

First things first, our first look doesn’t actually come from a movie still, but from a toy, meaning that the character could look a bit differently in the movie. In the original series, Goldar was some sort of humanoid ape (as seen above), but it seems like the people behind the movie took that name way too literally. Take a look for yourself below.

Yeap, that’s Goldar. A classic Power Rangers villain, Goldar is one of Rita Repulsa’s strongest Generals. He isn’t a small-time Rangers enemy, appearing in several episodes of the original series, as well as in Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers in Space.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threats. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The film stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks, Bill Hader, David Denman, Sarah Grey, Anjali Jay, Patrick Sabongui, Lisa Berry and Emily Maddison.

Power Rangers opens in theaters on March 24, 2017.
