In just over a month and a half, the upcoming Power Rangers reboot from Lionsgate will hit theaters. The reboot reimagines the Power Rangers in a much darker and more mature tone than the hit Fox Kids series. The film has been officially rated PG-13. As we have seen the in the trailer, Power Rangers will deal with real teenage issues such as bullying as the characters struggle to find their place in the world.
Power Rangers features newly designed suits worn by both the Rangers and the villainous alien invader hell bent on world domination, Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks), with a much more alien aesthetic than the suits from the 90’s. While the power coins and the Dinozords remain the same, they have also been given an updated alien look.
Empire has premiered a brand new poster for the film featuring the teenagers with attitude ready for battle as they are eclipsed by the villainous Repulsa. You can check it out below.
The film stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger), RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger), Becky G as Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor (Black Ranger), Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Bryan Cranston as Zordon, and Bill Hader as Alpha 5. Here’s the official synopsis:
