VIDEO: ‘Power Rangers’ Trailer Gets Original ’90s Opening Treatment

Power Rangers is nearly upon us, ushering the original Rangers into the modern era in a big way. With the hype and buzz for the film at a veritable fever pitch, this weekend is sure to see some big numbers for the film. However, thanks to a new throwback video, we’ve got a look at the Power Rangers trailer dressed up in the format of the original 90s show opening, bad VHS-quality and all.

With each major character highlighted and Rita Repula’s original opening narration, the video is a clever throwback full of fun and charm.

Here is the official synopsis for the Power Rangers movie:

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discoverer they are the only ones who save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers. 

Directed by Dean Israelite, the film stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks and Bill Hader.

Power Rangers releases in theaters this Friday, March 24, 2017.
