Mark your calendars, AMC’s Preacher will be airing its series premiere on Sunday, May 22 at 10 p.m. Preacher will be following the midseason finale of Fear the Walking Dead. AMC made the long awaited announcement Monday from the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.

After a variety of encore presentations of the premiere, new episodes will start on Sunday, June 5 in the series’ regular time of 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Preacher is based off of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic book franchise which was extremely popular in the ’90s. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are executive producers behind the project, along with executive producer and showrunner Sam Catlin, known for working on AMC’s Breaking Bad.

Preacher stars Dominic Cooper, Joseph Gilgun, Ruth Negga, Lucy Griffiths, W. Earl Brown, Anatol Yusef and Tom Brooke.

Based on the twisted and popular ’90s comic book franchise of the same name, Preacher, created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer – a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy embark on a journey to, literally, find God.
