It’s insane enough that come August, the first Guardians of the Galaxy film will be two years old. James Gunn’s incredibly entertaining entry into the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe proved to be a culturally resonant picture featuring memorable characters, great action, and a killer soundtrack that left us hooked on a feeling. Production on the sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been going on for months, and recently, Kurt Russell (who is believed to be playing Peter Quill’s/Star Lord’s father) wrapped and even more recently, Zoe Saldana (Gamora) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) have wrapped their part of the production as well.
Now, it looks like principal photography is reaching the finish line. According to director James Gunn, theres a little over a week of shooting left for the film. Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer) has shared an image on his Facebook page preparing for his last two days of shooting in Atlanta. You can see the lovable actor showing his gentle side with a black kitten cradled in his hands.
Dave Bautista on Facebook: Almost finished filming Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in Atlanta!! One more day to go.
With production nearing its end here, another Marvel production is prepping for the cameras to roll in Atlanta. Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland is set to begin production very soon in this city. The thought that the sequel to the fresh and endearing first film in this series is almost in the can is incredibly exciting for millions of fans around the world that helped bring that first film to its unexpected success. I cannot wait to see what James Gunn has in store for us when this film hits theaters next year. Anyone ready to take a guess at what songs are on Peter Quill’s Awesome Mix Vol. 2?
Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, and Kurt Russell, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soars into theaters May 5, 2017.
