‘The Punisher’s Jon Bernthal Took Inspiration From “Dirty Laundry”

The Punisher got quite a lot of attention last week, with Marvel announcing several new cast members and as well as with Marvel TV having their big presence during New York Comic-Con that took place last weekend where Frank Castle himself, Jon Bernthal showed up after the Iron Fist panel. Later in the weekend, Bernthal had his own panel where he chatted more about Punisher and was asked if he had studied other actors who had played this character before.

“I watch everything. I read everything. Anything you can get your hands on. I love “Dirty Laundry.” You see that one? Once you devour and eat up and much as you can, my way is to make it as personal as possible. It was a great pleasure to watch all of those.”

What is Dirty Laundry? The fan-film comes from director Adi Shankar who had Thomas Jane (who portrayed the character in the 2004 adaptation) reprise the role in this project. If you haven’t seen it, give it a watch!

Marvel’s The Punisher, starring Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Micro, Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, with special appearances from Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, will be released on Netflix sometime in 2017. Scott Lightfoot wrote the first two episodes and will be the show-runner and executive producer on the series.
