The Punisher actor Jon Bernthal said he’s already made his peace with the series’ possible cancellation according to an interview with Variety.
The actor, who plays Frank Castle in the Marvel-Netflix shows, shared his thoughts about the second season of The Punisher which released today on the streaming platform. He was also asked about the possibility of the show being canceled, following the fate of shows like Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Bernthal said that he’s already made its peace with that scenario and that he only focuses on doing his job as best as he can:
“I know the reality of the situation and I’m at peace with it. I really only worry about the things I can control. When I’m playing the character and I’m doing the job and it’s right there in front of me, I do whatever I can to make it as good as I can. But in this business there’s so much we can’t control. Whatever is happening with these shows, these decisions are being made in rooms I’m not invited into and I’m OK with that.”
Although The Punisher and Jessica Jones haven’t been canceled yet, the possibility of it happening grows every day. Announcements on Disney+, the company’s streaming platform, are expected to pop sometime later this year and it seems Marvel wants all of their shared franchises ready to start anew for it.
Marvel’s The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal, Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, Josh Stewart, Floriana Lima, Giorgia Whigham, Corbin Bernsen, Annette O’Toole, and Deborah Ann Woll. Here’s the synopsis for season two:
Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham).
