When Daredevil premiered, kicking off the buildup to Netflix’s superhero team-up series The Defenders, it introduced viewers to Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin. Widely considered to be one of the best villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wilson Fisk returned in the second season of Daredevil where he assisted in the incarcerated Frank Castle’s escape from prison. Now, with The Punisher receiving his own series, fans have been wondering if Kingpin and Frank Castle will reunite in the upcoming show.

Unfortunately, according to actor Vincent D’Onofrio Kingpin will not be making an appearance on The Punisher. D’Onofrio revealed the news in a response to a fans question about the character’s possible inclusion in the show.

While the Kingpin won’t be making appearance in The Punisher, Vincent D’Onofrio has previously stated that the villain will certainly return, though it is unlikely his appearance will be in any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe feature films. D’Onofrio has also previously stated the character will not appear in The Defenders.

The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal, Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Amber Rose Revah, Deborah Ann Woll, Daniel Webber, Jason R. Moore, Paul Schulze, Jaime Ray Newman and Michael Nathanson.

The Punisher is scheduled to be released in late 2017.
