Back in 2014, Warner Bros. announced an initial slate for upcoming DC Extended Universe films, with one of those upcoming films in development set to be a standalone Cyborg movie that would star Ray Fisher, who appeared in both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
Sadly, Warner Bros. and their plans for the future of the DCEU had its major ups and downs along the way. While for the most part, their films have been financial successes but the reception from critics and audiences has been pretty mixed to say the least (with the obvious exception of Wonder Woman and perhaps Aquaman). In particular, Justice League proved to be a major financial disappointment for Warner Bros.
However, Ray Fisher remains committed to his role as Cyborg. He famously promotes much of his Instagram posts and tweets with the hashtag #BORGLIFE and still has enthusiasm for the franchise. While at the premiere for Aquaman, Fisher discussed what he felt was the “limitless” potential there was for a standalone Cyborg film if it were to be given the greenlight:
“One of the things is that we have so much technology, we as human beings are so dependent on technology, that the potential for Cyborg is almost limitless with what he could do. We’re talking about a guy who could, if he wanted to, could launch all the nukes with just a thought. He could stop all the cyber-terrorism in the world, if that was what his aim was because you don’t have people running and knocking over banks the way they used to. You’re not going and holding them up, you’re getting on you’re keyboard and you’re handling it that way. I think to be able to see that shift and have it be a real world, in time view of where we’re at in technology would be the most effective thing we could do.”
Fisher was originally set to reprise his role in the standalone Flash movie alongside Ezra Miller when Rick Famuyiwa was still attached to that project. It is unknown if Fisher will appear in that film and his next appearance in the DCEU remains a mystery.
Fisher recently revealed that his top choice to direct his Cyborg movie would be Zack Snyder. He has given his former director nothing but support throughout the whole journey, even as Warner Bros. looks to take their DCEU into a different direction.

But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
