During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Handmaid’s Tale director and executive producer Reed Morano revealed that she met with Lucasfilm president and Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy.

Though the Star Wars franchise has certainly improved in terms of diversity in front of the camera, the forty-year-old film series has yet to see a woman helm an installment of the space saga. Now, Reed Morano’s account of her two-and-a-half-hour meeting with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has many speculating that the Emmy Award-winning filmmaker could be the first woman to direct a Star Wars film. Though Morano could not divulge any details on the potential project she discussed with Kennedy, she did recount how they talked about adventure films and described the meeting as “great.”:

“I guess she was watching with her daughter and then called people and was like, ‘Who’s this Reed person?’ She probably thought I was a guy because of my name. She’s amazing. We’re talking about adventure movies, and I’m not even remembering that she produced Goonies. Any movie that I put my finger on that I loved when I was growing up was a movie that she produced. Anyway, it was a great meeting. Obviously, I can’t say anything about what else we were talking about.”
