Comic book artist Rob Liefeld blames Marvel over the fact that Deadpool 3 hasn’t happened yet.

When the first Deadpool film was released, it kind of blew everyone away with how good it was. The film was very well received by fans and critics, earning well over $780M worldwide and was the most successful X-Men related film to date. The second film, Deadpool 2, went on to be just as successful but was also released in the middle of the Disney acquisition of Fox, leaving many fans to wonder what was in store for the future of the franchise.

Since the acquisition both Disney and Ryan Reynolds have remained enthusiastic about the future of Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Marvel Studios has shown no indication as to when or if they will include the character in the shared movie universe as the MCU’s lineup seems pretty full at the moment. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, however, has laid the blame fully on Marvel for why the third installment of the film series hasn’t happened yet.

While speaking to Comicbook.com, Rob Liefeld spoke about his own frustrations with Marvel over the lack of Deadpool in the movie world:

“I blame Marvel…blame Marvel that that hasn’t happened yet. They are the reason it isn’t happening. Whatever conundrum or it didn’t fit into your master plan, just commission it. Okay, commission it. You know if Frank Frazetta was still around, you would say, ‘Frank paint for me.'”

What do you all make of Rob Liefeld’s words? Are you upset that Marvel Studios hasn’t already included Deadpool 3 in their film lineup? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here is the plot synopsis for Deadpool 2:

Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Directed by David Leitch from a script written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jack Kesy.
