‘Avengers: Endgame’s Most Heartfelt Line Came From Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. Tony Stark Iron Man Avengers Endgame

If you’ve seen Avengers: Endgame, than just hearing this line could draw a tear to your eye and the line came from none other than the man behind Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr.

SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: ENDGAME BELOW

“I love you 3,000.”

First said by Tony Stark’s young daughter, Morgan, just after the remaining heroes come to Tony Stark with their time heist plan, Tony tucks in his daughter for sleep and she tells him “I love you 3,000.” The real gravity of that line hits in the epilogue of the film after the funeral of Tony Stark when his family is watching a recording that Tony made the night before the time heist. He ends his message the final lines heard by Robert Downy Jr. in the film, “I love you 3,000.”

While the line already has a lot of heart behind it, it turns out that its origin wasn’t even from the minds of the writers. As it turns out, the line is something that Robert Downey Jr. actually says to his children. So, not only does Tony Stark say this to his daughter, but the actor who has embodied this character for 11 years actually says that to his own children. Avengers: Endgame writers Markus and McFeely spoke to Fandango about it:

“Well, as much as we’d like to take credit for what is inevitably going to be one of the most memorable lines in MCU history, that is something that Robert and his children actually say to each other. He brought it from real life onto the set.”

That little fact just gives the line a little more emotion to it, and Avengers: Endgame does not skimp on emotion. What was your favorite line from Avengers: Endgame? Let us know in the comments down below!
