Robert Downey Jr. Wishes ‘Avengers’ Co-Star Tom Holland A Happy Birthday

Avengers: Endgame actor Robert Downey Jr. took to Twitter this morning to send birthday wishes to his co-star Tom Holland.

Robert Downey Jr. wished Tom Holland a happy birthday via Twitter. The actor shared a GIF of the moment Tom Holland’s Spider-Man first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War. Check out the tweet below.

Iron Man and Spider-Man have shared a bond in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Captain America: Civil War. Avengers: Infinity War saw Iron Man lose Spidey while Endgame saw Spider-Man lose Iron Man. The relationship between the characters mirrored a father-son relationship that neither of them got to have. It only makes sense for Robert Downey Jr. to look at Tom Holland in the same way, saying “we’re all pretty darned glad u were born” in the tweet.

In Avengers: Endgame, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man sacrifices himself to save the world. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man took it hard, letting Iron Man know that they won. The scene was one of the most tearjerking moments of the entire Marvel Studios franchise.

Now, Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Far From Home. In it, he must take over Iron Man’s mantle and protect the world. With a new weight on his shoulders and looming memories of Iron Man, Spider-Man must become a new centerpiece of the Avengers.
