Robert Downey Jr. addressed the rumor claiming Iron Man might make some sort of appearance in Marvel Studios’ Black Widow.
While Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man may have sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, fans have been wondering if this truly was the end of the hero who launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the desire of many to see Robert Downey Jr. reprise his role as Iron Man in the future, the actor has stated that he considers his time as the hero to be complete.
However, rumors have suggested Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man might make an appearance in Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, which is set before the events of Avengers: Endgame, perhaps through CGI or unused footage from Captain America: Civil War. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Robert Downey Jr. played coy when asked if Iron Man might return in Black Widow but noted that anything is possible with today’s technology:
“Right. Great. I mean, it would be nice if they notified me. Forewarned is forearmed. They can do anything now. This could be a deep fake interview for all we know.”
