The Batman star Robert Pattinson has jokingly apologized for saying that the Caped Crusader wasn’t really a superhero.

Last year Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame was cast as the lead character of the upcoming Matt Reeves film, The Batman. The decision among some was controversial given the actor’s past but wasn’t long before he unintentionally irritated some members of the fandom. During an interview last year, Robert Pattinson said that Batman wasn’t actually a superhero because he didn’t really have powers. But now he is apologizing for these comments in a joking way.

In a recent interview Time Out, Pattinson discussed his role in The Batman and how his comments on how he wasn’t really a superhero. He talked about it in a joking manner about it before predicting what the eventual headlines would be regarding his apology for saying Batman wasn’t a superhero:

“I wasn’t educated about the subject. People got very angry about it. It’s bizarre. I still can’t understand the argument. Okay, he’s a superhero, I’m sorry! The next headline: ‘Pattinson retracts: Batman is, in fact, a superhero. He takes it back.'”

Full plot details on Robert Pattinson’s The Batman are being kept under lock and key, but we know that the movie will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler.
