Early this year, Ben Affleck announced that he would not reprise his role in Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman. A while later it was revealed that Robert Pattinson was officially set as Ben Affleck’s successor in a completely different take on Batman focusing on the early stages of the Caped Crusader’s career.

A lot of fans, including digital artist Spdrmnkyxxii, think that Robert Pattinson would be the perfect Terry McGinnis in a Batman Beyond film instead of Bruce Wayne. The digital artist revealed a cool new concept design of Robert Pattinson in an updated version of the Batman Beyond costume. The inception of Robert Pattinson in the Batman Beyond costume has him watching over the Gotham City of the future, as opposed to being Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne successor.

Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman and the Penguin. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New Gods, and Nightwing.

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.

Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix is set to be an origin story. The gritty and grounded crime film directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover) is set in 1980s Gotham City follows Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, a failed 1980s comedian that becomes The Joker after he bombs with audiences. The film will serve as DC's first outing beyond its the current cinematic universe since it was launched by Zack Snyder in 2013 with Man of Steel in order to create new and unique storylines as the studio expands DC canon.

So far, Warner Bros. has released official images from the film featuring Joaquin Phoenix along with Robert De Niro who plays talk show host Murray Franklin, as well as Zazie Beetz' Sophie Dumond, who appears to be a love interest of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker in the film. “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
