The official Bat-Symbol for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman has been revealed by a DC Comics patent ahead of the film.
A recent DC Comics patent filing revealed the brand new Bat-Symbol from Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, which clearly uses the design seen in the impressive first look at the star’s costume. Most fans are hoping to see footage from the Matt Reeves film at the DC Comics centric event, DC FanDome, later this week. But until then, a new patent uncovered by Comic Book Movie reveals the design of The Batman‘s logo, and it’s instantly set apart from previous versions of the symbol.
The new Bat-Symbol for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is clearly taken from the metal chest piece in the Caped Crusader’s costume. Many fans have already speculated that the metal is actually a broken down version of the gun used by Joe Chill to kill Bruce Wayne’s parents. Co-writer Mattson Tomlin recently revealed the film will explore Bruce’s soul like never before. The wings on the new symbol are clearly taken from those metal pieces strapped to his chest, although the ears have been added into the patent design from DC Comics. It’ll be interesting to see if Robert Pattinson’s hero refines his costume throughout the film. Take a look below.

Plot details for The Batman are being kept under wraps, but we know that the project will revolve around Robert Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector. The Batman will also feature the hero making use of his detective skills more than what we’ve seen before in previous iterations of the character. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new Batman trilogy with Pattinson.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
